What's an Artesian Spring?
The Encyclopaedia Britannica defines an Artesian Spring as
a man-made spring from which water flows under natural pressure without pumping. It is dug or drilled wherever a gently dipping, permeable rock layer (such as sandstone) receives water along its outcrop at a level higher than the level of the surface of the ground at the well site. At the outcrop the water moves down into the aquifer (water-bearing layer) but is prevented from leaving it by impermeable rock layers (such as shale) above and below it. Pressure from the water’s weight (hydrostatic pressure) forces water to the surface of a well drilled down into the aquifer; the pressure for the steady upflow is maintained by the continuing penetration of water into the aquifer at the intake area.

SASI Spring Water is drawn from an artesian spring situated on a
pristine 132 hectare watershed west of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The watershed is nearly untouched, consisting mostly of vacant land thickly forested with mixed coniferous and deciduous trees. Apart from the traffic generated by our water collection there are no human activities within the watershed area that might potentially contaminate the aquifer. In SASI's aquifer the water flows through a very fine-grained sand over bedrock and into a holding area where we collect it..
From the aquifer, SASI water is brought to our headquarters in Thunder Bay, where it is tested for purity before being made available for purchase.
